Living an authentic Christian life isn't easy. It's really difficult to proudly proclaim that you live for Jesus when, if you're anything like me, you continually fall on your face. When you are a true witness to your faith, you are opening the door for people's harsh words and watchful stares. I think that it's a common misconception that Christian = Perfect, or that all Christians think that they are perfect. Whether someone is an Atheist, Jew, Christian, Hindu, ect... They are still human, and no matter how seemingly close to perfection that person may be, they are still human. But what sets Christians apart is not their so-called proximity to perfection, but their ability to admit that they will never be perfect. "I'm not a Christian because I think I'm better than everyone else, I am a Christian because I am hopelessly broken and I need a Savior."
I will be the first to tell you that I'm flawed. I get angry way too quickly, I am constantly insulting God's work in myself, I say rude things under my breath, I judge people I don't even know, I lust over attractive men that are unaware of my existence... No matter how close to Christ I am, I always find a way to screw myself over and trip myself up. In my life, I have learned that 9 times out of 10, I am the only one keeping myself from Sainthood. More often than not, I try to blame my failings on a situation or another person, but when I honestly examine myself, I know that it's me... BUT, this is where the true beauty of Christ comes in.
He loves you. No matter what you did or didn't do, He loves you. There is literally NOTHING you could ever do that will make Jesus Christ love you less. Let me repeat that, THERE IS NOTHING YOU COULD EVER DO THAT WILL MAKE JESUS CHRIST LOVE YOU LESS. God loves, not because He has to, but because He IS Love and because He WANTS to love you. He knows you're messed up, He knows you're a sinner, He knows your deepest secrets... And He still loves you. When Jesus was hanging on the cross, He was fully aware that He was dying for a bunch of sinners He had never met, and that means us. Nails didn't hold Jesus to the cross, Love did. Your mistakes and heartbreak and failings are all washed clean in the blood of the God of the Universe. In the words of Matt Maher, Your grace is enough. No matter where you may be in life, no matter what struggles you are facing, no matter how many times you continue to fall on your face, HIS grace is enough. He is never going to leave. Even when you don't feel Him near you, Jesus is guiding your every step. Christ is right there, cheering you on to Sainthood, even when you trip yourself up. He wants to you be in Heaven with Him! You are His Beloved! I don't know you, and I don't know what your sins are, but what I do know is that God loves you. As cliche as it sounds, it is one truth in life that I will always cling to, and it is my prayer that you open your heart to that truth as well.
I invite you today to simply remind someone of the fact that they are loved.
Be His!
